A documentary set to air tonight on public television addresses a nursing home director’s mission to transform his facility into an individualized home environment.

“Almost Home,” which will be shown on PBS tonight, tells the stories of couples who must juggle the responsibilities of caring for their children and their aging parents with dementia and disability.

Various providers groups that have seen previews have praised the documentary for its realistic depiction of life and work in nursing homes. Senator Herbert Kohl (D-WI), ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging and the Independent Television Service hosted a preview screening and luncheon featuring the documentary last week in Washington, D.C.

The show will be broadcast on the PBS program “Independent Lens” at 10 p.m. ET. For more information on the documentary, go to the Web site http://www.almosthomedoc.org/
