The Wales Home, located in Cleveland, Quebec, received an honorable mention in the Prix d’Excellence awards from the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The award was in the “Security of care and services category” for the home’s Guardian Angel program. The program included three initiatives: creation of a therapeutic Alzheimer’s garden, modernization of The Wales Home including in its Alzheimer’s unit, and deployment of STANLEY Healthcare’s AeroScout® Wi-Fi resident safety solution.

Every Wales Home resident in assisted and independent living carries a small Wi-Fi tag, which he or she can use to call for help anywhere in the building or outside. AeroScout also monitors residents in long-term care units who may be wander risks.

The Wales Home also won a certificate of merit from the McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Award program and the 2013 Residence of the Year from the Quebec Association of Seniors’ Residences. In addition, it was the overall winner at the Gala Reconnaissance Estrie 2013, which recognizes outstanding enterprises in the Estrie region of Quebec.
