About one-fifth of all healthcare workers plan to leave their current positions in 2007, according to a survey from CareerBuilder.com.
A total of 17% say they are dissatisfied with their jobs and 21% plan to leave their positions in the coming year, the survey found. Nursing homes have a particularly bleak turnover rate within healthcare. The average turnover of CNAs in nursing homes is about 42%, far surpassing the turnover rate for CNAs in hospitals and home health, according to the 2006-2007 Nursing Department Report published by Hospital and Healthcare Compensation Service.
Better pay and/or career advancement opportunities will be the main reasons a majority of healthcare workers will leave their positions. The survey, “Job forecast 2007,” was conducted in November and December of last year and included more than 800 workers.
