An august panel of aging care experts will meet Monday in Washington to film an examination of creative international models of eldercare. The gathering is sponsored by PBS NewsHour and funded by the SCAN Foundation. Everything from managed care programs in Minnesota and California to a voucher program in Finland and caregiver support systems in Taiwan will be discussed. NewsHour’s Hari Sreenivasan will moderate the session, which will include an array of well-known U.S. aging thought leaders.

Discussion participants for “Global and Regional Models for Long-Term Care — Can They Work Nationally?” will include: former Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mark McClellan (now director of a Brookings Institution healthcare initiative); American Geriatrics Society CEO Jennie Chin Hansen; Laura Gitlin, director of the Center for Innovative Care in Aging at Johns Hopkins University; author Howard Gleckman; and Deb Whitman, Executive Vice President of Policy, Strategy and International Affairs at AARP.

The event will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Washington’s Eastern Market. Spectators are welcome. To learn more about the event or reserve a seat, click here.
