Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)

President Obama has signed a $1.1 trillion spending package that funds most federal agencies through September.

“This bill puts the Affordable Care Act on secure financial footing for the first time in a long time,” said Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV).

But while the law remains funded, there’s no new money for it. Nor have additional funds been set aside for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to implement the law.

The National Institutes of Health would receive $30.3 billion, a $150 million overall increase. Democrats noted that the new funding helps especially for ongoing Alzheimer’s and brain research programs.

The sweeping legislation covers the entire discretionary budget of the federal government. It sets funding priorities and new policies for the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.
