Stimulus dollars give healthcare IT spending an early boost

Federal stimulus dollars for healthcare IT expansion aren't scheduled to start flowing until 2011. But many firms already appear to be gearing up. Nearly 70% of healthcare companies in an Information Week magazine survey predicted that their 2009 IT spend will exceed 2008 totals. Respondents are allocating 30% of their IT budgets to new efforts, while 70% is earmarked for ongoing IT tasks, the survey found.
