Praos Health Inc., based in Austin, TX, launched a platform designed to connect hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies with nurses to staff shifts.

Praos was designed to let nurses looking for flexible schedules cover open shifts.

A mobile delivery platform also lets management do background checks, ongoing license verification, credential management and workflow automation.

Organizations can use an external network of vetted and qualified nurses (also known as the Praos marketplace), the company said.

“There are many possible solutions to the looming nursing shortage. We are looking at the problem through an innovative lens,” said Founder and CEO Rohini Bochaton. “We hope to engage internal and external local talent and those who have ‘opted out’ of permanent jobs, which have a 32% churn rate in the first two years. Praos makes it easier for nurses to stay connected and credentialed via continuing education courses, online resources, and a choice of facilities offering shifts that they can choose from, at times and locations that fit their lifestyle.”
