Flexsteel Industries Inc., which has a Senior Living division for its furniture, along with the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation (GDDC), held a ceremony for a new Dubuque manufacturing facility on Monday.

Flexsteel announced in May that it would build a $25 million facility on 22 acres in Dubuque Industrial Center South, retaining 200 jobs in the city. Following the groundbreaking, construction is expected to run until late 2018, at which time operations will transition to Seippel Road.

Additionally, Flexsteel will donate $2.7 million and 40 acres of land to Dubuque Initiatives, a group focused on revitalizing downtown Dubuque.

“Flexsteel is pleased to continue manufacturing in Dubuque, a progressive community where our strong workforce delivers great results to our customers every day,” said Flexsteel President and CEO, Karel Czanderna. “We look forward to continued success at our new facility and will look back with fondness to Jackson Street, which we called home for over 80 years.”
