Mount Miguel Covenant Village, a continuing care retirement community operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, broke ground on a $15 million construction project last week.

The 33,000-square-foot building will be the senior living community’s Village Center and include dining venues, offices, a fitness center, a health clinic, an art studio and classrooms.

San Diego construction company BYCOR General Contractors and Portland, OR-based architecture firm Ankrom Moisan were selected to design and build the project. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months, with a grand opening scheduled for winter 2015.

Mount Miguel also completed renovations on a memory care unit earlier in 2014.
