More handheld devices coming to healthcare, report predicts

Handheld device sales in the healthcare sector reached $8.2 billion globally in 2009 and are expected to increase 7% for the next five years. Purchases by healthcare networks and physicians are expected to fuel much of the increase, according to a report by Kalorama Information. An aging population, worker shortages, cost-containment efforts and new federal incentives will also act as catalysts, according to the report.
