Long-term care pros, hoping to fine-tune their infection-prevention skills, now have a new avenue to do so, without leaving their home or office.

The Beacon Institute — which is the educational affiliate of Maryland-based LifeSpan Network — announced last week that it will begin offering its infection prevention and control courses online, in addition to already-available, in-person offerings.

Courses are tailored to infection professionals working in non-acute care settings, such as nursing homes, according to a release, and they also meet the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' guidelines on Infection Prevention and Control Programs.

Beacon's course will be held March 21 to 23 from 8:30 am. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time, and is approved for 17.5 continuing education credits.
