There’s new help underfoot for residents with dementia. GTX Corp. and Aetrex Worldwide are jointly developing GPS-embedded footwear. The shoes can help track and find lost residents. “Five million Americans are afflicted with Alzheimer’s and this is estimated to grow to more than twenty million as the boomer population ages,” said Andrew Carle, an assistant professor at George Mason University who helped develop the shoes. The firms plan to test the shoes later this year.
