While governmentspending may be down in many areas, it continues to escalate inhealthcare–particularly for nursing home and home health services. Federalnursing home outlays expanded by 4.8% in 2007, while the increase surpassed 11%for home health, according to a report from the Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services. Overall healthcare spending climbed to $2.2 trillion, or$7,421 per person, according to government actuaries.
