PuraPly Antimicrobial

Massachusetts-based Organogenesis Inc. has announced the availability of PuraPly Antimicrobial in a new smaller 1.6 cm disc size.

The wound management product uses PHMB, or polyhexamethylene biguanide, to manage bioburden while supporting healing, and can be used on a variety of different wound types, including pressure and diabetic ulcers.

“A vast majority of wounds — including small ones — contain biofilm, which represents a serious challenge to wound healing,” Gary Gillheeney, president and CEO of Organogenesis, said in the announcement. “The new small size of PuraPly AM — which utilizes PHMB to manage bioburden while supporting healing — gives clinicians an exciting new option for treating a wide range of small wounds.”

Podiatry Today named the PuraPly AM as one of its Top 10 innovations in Podiatry, according to the release.
