Amid more scrutiny, the head of the nation’s largest nursing home association called on providers to continue delivering compassionate care.

American Health Care President and CEO Mark Parkinson repeatedly emphasized the power of love as he addressed members during the AHCA and National Center for Assisted Living’s 70th Annual Convention and Expo in Orlando, FL, in October.

Parkinson noted that despite nationwide quality improvements in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, the industry has been subject to “more criticism, more congressional hearings and more OIG reports than ever before,” but that it shouldn’t stop providers’ mission to show love.

AHCA also said at the event that it had agreed to a three-year contract extension with Parkinson, with an option for two more years.
