Study: PPE causing serious skin injuries

A new study has found that nearly half of medical staff treating patients with COVID-19 experienced serious skin injuries from the use of personal protective equipment, including masks, goggles, face shields and protective gowns.

Occupancy falls by 11%

Diversicare Healthcare Services President and CEO Jay McKnight estimated that the skilled nursing industry saw an 11% drop in occupancy in the first quarter, largely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

» HealthDirect Pharmacy Services announced it acquired the long-term care pharmacy operations of Northeast Pharmacy Services in May. It’s the company’s sixth pharmacy in the state of Pennsylvania. HealthDirect will absorb 26 long-term care professionals from Northeast, bringing its total number of employees to more than 1,000. The company has 25 pharmacies in eight states.…
