CONNECTICUT – Apple Rehab, a nursing home in Rocky Hill, CT, was under investigation by the state Department of Public Health after a Legionnaires’ outbreak.

Two residents were diagnosed with Legionnaires’ and one later died, the state said in July.

The facility’s water system has since had a chlorine treatment and further testing was underway, according to the department. Patients, staff and visitors were notified and the water quality was to be continually monitored.

DPH and Apple Rehab personnel were conducting a joint investigation to identify the environmental source of Legionella bacteria, DPH officials said in a statement.
