Brief bursts of high-intensity exercise on a stationary bike have been found to bring blood pressure back to normal in older adults in as few as 10 weeks.

This happened without any change to medication or diet, said researchers from Abertay University in Scotland.

Participants in their 60s with diagnosed hypertension underwent sprint interval training twice a week: six seconds of high-intensity cycling, broken by short periods of rest.

Participants also were found to have significant improvements in vascular and physical function.
