SOUTH DAKOTA — Avera became the second entity attempting to intervene in the operations transfer of 17 South Dakota nursing facilities in receivership, according to local reports.

Former manager Skyline Health Care has been in financial trouble since last year. Black Hills Receiver, formed by GoldenLiving, asked for the 17 facilities to be transferred to owner-operator Cascade Capital Group in April, the Aberdeen News reported.

But on May 23, Avera asked the court to deny the transfer. Avera is owed money from Skyline.

In response, Black Hills Receiver said it’s not the right time for Avera to intervene, noting it had to prioritize all court-approved expenses, such as employee payroll.
