The bonds formed between providers and patients can sometimes feel like family. Residents and staff members at a Georgia skilled nursing facility made an administrator’s wedding day even more special by being a part of the ceremony — adding new meaning to the concept of family.

“PruittHealth’s mission is ‘Our Family, Your Family, One Family,’ and clearly — we mean it,” Ashlyn Broderick, administrator of
PruittHealth — Augusta Hills, said.

Broderick and her fiancé, U.S. Army Sergeant Major Jason Holland, were married at the Augusta-based skilled nursing facility during a ceremony late last year.

The two planned to get married at a local courthouse until Broderick realized it would be tough to transfer many residents off-site for the ceremony.

She proposed the idea of having it at the facility to ensure the residents and staff were a part of her special day.

Four residents served as bridesmaids, while one served as a ring bearer. Another resident, Claude Epps (pictured above), walked her down and the aisle and gave her away.

“To be able to marry the love of my life, surrounded by the loves of my life,” Broderick said. “I don’t think I could have asked for anything better than that.”
