Nurses from around the world are partnering with an online learning platform, aiming to improve care for elders across the healthcare spectrum.

EasyCare Academy announced recently that it is partnering with the International Council of Nurses, which represents more than 20 million RNs, to provide educational materials for all types of professionals providing care to the elderly. The two sides note that, with the rapidly aging population, all caregivers will need to have an expertise in elderly care going forward.

“Putting the older person at the center and then developing the tools and training caregivers need to support them based on these insights is at the heart of everything we do,” Ian Philp, M.D, co-founder and chief scientific officer of EasyCare Academy, said in the announcement. “At the same time, as we empower an ever-broader group of people to care for older adults, we need to safeguard the quality of the care delivered and ensure a clear understanding of when to link to healthcare professionals.”

The two partners are now working to create “robust, structured and accredited learning materials,” to be used by nurses, as well other members of a resident’s care team. They hope to release the results some time in the not-too-distant future, via the Switzerland-based academy’s online educational platform.
