Joel Wherley has been hired by VITAS Healthcare as the chief operating officer. He will oversee 44 hospice programs throughout 14 states.
Wherley has worked in healthcare sales and operations management for more than 30 years. Before becoming COO, he was VITAS’s senior vice president of hospice operations.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
VITAS Healthcare is based in Miami and focuses on hospice care and palliative care.
