Sherin Ronaghian

Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Maryland has appointed Sherin Ronaghian, MD, as its new medical director.

The skilled nursing facility is undergoing a multi-million-dollar modernization to help support added specialty programming, in which Ronaghian will play a key role.

The short-term rehab and long-term residential care center is part of a 140-bed continuing care retirement community. Ronaghian’s appointment and the campus-wide upgrade follow a recent ownership change.

Ronaghian specializes in physiatry, commonly known as physical medicine and rehabilitation, which is among the new, specialized services being introduced at Tuckerman. The practice of physiatry blends pain treatments and physical therapy with the goal to help patients avoid surgery.

Under Ronaghian’s direction, this “whole body” approach at Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center will center on designing, coordinating and overseeing customized rehabilitation therapies for patients while managing their medical conditions, including comorbidities.

Ronaghian also serves as director of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Montgomery Medical and is affiliated with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Medical’s Suburban Hospital, and Montgomery Medical’s affiliate rehab facilities.

Tuckerman is managed by NJ-based Marquis Health Consulting Services, a nursing home consulting company supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities with about 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
