G. Allen Power

 

Allen Power, M.D., has joined the Schlegel-University of Waterloo Research Institute for Aging as the Schlegel Chairman in Aging and Dementia Innovation.

Power’s first book, “Dementia Beyond Drugs: Changing the Culture of Care,” was named a 2010 Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing, and was re-released in October 2016.

He has served as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Society for Internal Medicine. He is also a Certified Eden Alternative Educator and a member of the Eden Alternative board of directors.

Power completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Rochester, where he also finished his medical degree. He studied classical and jazz composition at the Eastman School of Music.
