Ron Nunziato

The Health Care Council of Illinois has announced Ron Nunziato as its new senior director of policy and regulatory affairs.

Before joining HCCI, Nunziato spent nearly three decades in the skilled nursing industry, most recently as CEO of Extended Care Consulting, provider of clinical and financial services for skilled nursing and rehabilitative facilities in the Midwest. Previously, he was vice president of operators for S.I.R. Management, another long-term care consulting firm.

Nunziato is a licensed nursing home administrator and certified in health care compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association.

“Ron has long been a trusted advisor to our members, and I’m thrilled he now joins us in an official capacity, bringing his decades of experience leading skilled nursing facilities to help us identify proactive, innovative and lasting policy solutions to the industry’s many challenges,” said HCCI Executive Director Matt Pickering.

Nunziato serves on the Board of Advisors for the Illinois Department of Public Health, having been appointed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) in 2018. He also is a member of the Regulatory Committee of the American Health Care Association. Previously, he served on the boards for the Center on Halsted, the Mental Health Association and the Howard Brown Health Center.

Nunziato received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology and a bachelor’s degree in management and behavioral sciences from Lewis University. He earned his master’s degree in human services administration from Spertus College.

With HCCI, he’ll help bridge the divide between policymakers and nursing home communities across the state. The non-profit member association represents more than 300 licensed skilled nursing facilities in Illinois.
