Beat Meier has joined Harbor’s Edge, a True LifeCare retirement community in Norfolk, VA, as executive chef. He will oversee all dining venues.

Meier has more than 30 years of culinary experience, including 12 as the executive chef of The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, VA. In his new position, he will oversee the dining staff and plan menus and ensure that residents have healthy and nutritious choices.

Meier graduated with honors from a cook apprenticeship in Switzerland. He went on to become the executive chef in multiple country clubs throughout his career.

He said he plans to create new menu options for residents and to add more diversity to meals. He also plans to incorporate specials, including international and ethnic flavors gleaned from his world travels.

Meier’s addition coincides with the community breaking ground next month on a $200 million River Tower expansion that will add 147 apartment homes to the community.
