Christine Cassel, M.D.

Christine K. Cassel, M.D., began as the president and chief executive officer at the National Quality Forum this summer.

She announced in April this year she was stepping down as the president and CEO of the the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the ABIM Foundation. 

Cassel is past president of the American Federation for Aging Research and the American College of Physicians. Other appointments include serving as the dean at Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, chairwoman of the Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Chief of General Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago. 

Cassel earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She finished her internal medicine residency at Children’s Hospital of San Franscisco and a fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Portland, OR.
