A Canadian nursing home is facing scrutiny for what officials say is a bird-brained plan for destroying resident records: sending them to a chicken farm.

A contract between Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and a chicken farm lacked “specificity” of how the farm planned to keep patient documents secure, a report by the Office of the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner found. The report also noted the contact failed to show how the documents would be destroyed.

The commissioner recommended the nursing home and chicken farm terminate their contract, saying that the current arrangement was “unacceptable.”
