Providers interested in giving feedback to the federal Long-Term Care Commission are invited to attend an informational webinar at 2 p.m. EDT on Aug. 13. The event is hosted by the Friday Morning Collaborative, an arm of the National Council on Aging.

The commission will report a “plan for the establishment, implementation, and financing of a comprehensive, coordinated, and high-quality system that ensures the availability of long-term services and supports for individuals in need,” and is holding public hearings and meetings through the end of September.

Additionally, the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations and the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities, which represent more than 100 national aging and disability organizations, collaborated to develop joint principles that have been submitted to the Commission.

During the “Long-Term Care Commission: Learn More about It and How You Can Engage” webinar, presenters will talk about the commission’s goal, the LCAO/CCD Principles and how providers can submit ideas and recommendations.

The featured speakers include:

  • Larry Atkins, staff director on the Long-Term Care Commission
  • Howard Bedlin from the National Council on Aging
  • Maureen Fitzgerald from The ARC of the US
  • Henry Claypool, the appointed commissioner at the American Association for People with Disabilities
