Hundreds of long-term care operators will converge in San Diego next week to participate in the first ever National Skilled Nursing Investment Forum from Monday through Wednesday. Others also will be attending the accompanying annual NIC Regional Symposium, which runs from Wednesday through Friday, also at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.

Both events are sponsored by the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry.

The skilled nursing forum theme is “Moving from Yesterday to Tomorrow: Capital & Reimbursement Strategies.” It will feature multiple breakout sessions that will use case studies to illustrate successful renovations, new developments and transformations. Sessions also will explain strategies for revitalizing skilled nursing properties, improving quality and increasing revenue.

The older, annual regional symposium was created specifically for providers and financiers with local or regional portfolios in the seniors housing and care sector that might include skilled nursing but also go beyond it. Breakout sessions will address issues involving access to capital, the impact of the economy and strategies for increasing occupancy and profitability. Prominent industry leaders will tie in sessions to this year’s theme, “Leadership for a Demanding Journey: Adapting to Changing Expectations.”
