Women of Distinction 2022 logo

The time is right for early admiration. Nominators for the 4th annual McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program can give themselves — and their respected nominees — an early present by entering their submissions by Wednesday’s discount deadline.

Leaders from all sizes of organizations are eligible for recognition in the profession’s most prestigious program honoring women leaders. Entrants shall work in the skilled nursing, senior living or the home care fields. In addition, new this year will be special Spirit Awards, which will recognize individuals who have inspired by specific extraordinary acts or service during the past year.

Women who serve the fields indirectly — for instance as association staff members, academicians or thought leaders — also are eligible. Individuals working for vendor companies are not eligible.

Categories recognize early-career (Rising Stars), mid-career (Veteran VIPs) and senior-level professionals (Hall of Honor). Nominations should include detailed information about nominees’ work histories, exceptional achievements and contributions or service, and anything else that the judging panel should consider.

The Distinction program’s first entry period (ending Dec. 8) carries a $69 fee; thereafter the cost will rise to $99 between Dec. 9 and Jan. 5. A final late period will require a $129 fee. There is no fee to nominate someone for the Spirit Award; up to five will give given out.

All honorees, including a Lifetime Achievement Award winner chosen by McKnight’s editors, will be celebrated at an in-person event on May 12 in Chicago. It also will recognize winners from 2020 and 2021 — years when the awards ceremony was held only virtually. In addition, educational sessions will be offered the next day at a special forum; details will be announced at a later date. All events are open to all professionals, in the field — no matter the gender or level of experience.
