Residents at one Wisconsin long-term care facility are becoming regular rock stars, with the provider recently filming a music video starring some of them.

Three Pillars Senior Living Community debuted the new video earlier this month, after shooting wrapped up in April. The lip sync rendition — starring several seniors and shot by local high school students — is one way to celebrate Older Americans Month, and liven up the lives of seniors.

“We just wanted a big idea to do something different and show how vibrant our residents are, more than just talking about it,” says Kelsey Pangborn, customer experience manager for the Dousman, WI-based continuing care retirement community.

This is actually the fifth year that Three Pillars has shot a music video. For 2019, participants chose the song “Rainbow Connection” to link with this year’s Older Americans Month theme of “create, connect, contribute.” Participating were facility staffers, local teens and residents from the skilled nursing side of the CCRC.

Pangborn said seniors had a blast during filming and she’s already looking forward to music video No. 6 in 2020.

“They have a lot of fun and they feel like they’re part of the greater community,” she tells McKnight’s. “They’re just delighted to be part of something bigger, and they all had open minds about the experience.”
