A director of nursing who guided her facility through COVID-19 while pregnant and taking care of her young child. A therapist who helped keep nursing home residents and facilities in touch during the pandemic.

These workers and 140 others in the long-term care industry honored for their efforts to keep residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic by post-acute care software company MatrixCare.

The employees were recognized through the company’s “Nominate a Hero” program. The initiative was launched in April and recognizes workers in long-term care who have gone “above and beyond the call of duty to keep their patients and residents informed, safe, healthy, and happy” during the public health crisis.

The company honored a total of 142 workers from more than 100 long-term care facilities and home-based care organizations across the country.

“Their brave actions include everything from implementing technology that allows residents to communicate with their family members to ensuring all social distancing and health guidelines are followed,” a program statement explained.

“Many are working beyond their allotted shifts to socialize with patients, source supplies, and implement new procedures in alignment with public health guidelines,” the company added.

The workers were also highlighted with a special video message from their colleagues.
