Not one, not two, not three but a New York skilled nursing facility celebrated seven residents that have reached the 100 year milestone with a big birthday celebration last week.

The Grand Pavilion for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Rockville Centre, NY, hosted the 1920s-themed party — in honor of the decade the residents were all born in — last Thursday at the facility where they celebrated with family and friends. The guests of honor included:

  • Viola Nowaki, 103
  • Gloria Hunt, 101
  • Rose Curti, 101
  • Ms. Marjorie, 101
  • Marie Gula, 100
  • Nieves Gonzalez, 100
  • Ruth Cook, 100

The event featured live entertainment, a 1920s-themed photo booth, all while the birthday honorees adorned tiaras and sashes.

“Our residents have lived such rich, beautiful lives and it is our pleasure to celebrate them, and how much they mean to us. 100 never looked so good,” administrator Dimitry Schwartz said in a statement.

The guests of honor also shared their secrets to a long and happy life during the party.

Hunt said the key is “to dance” and no smoking and drinking. She added, “If it weren’t for my knees, I would be dancing my heart out everyday.”

Curti’s advice included doing a puzzle a day, dressing nicely, daily walks and pampering yourself with manicures.

“Look in the mirror every day, and say the words, ‘I am beautiful,’” added Ms. Marjorie. “Saying those words works your facial muscles so you don’t get wrinkles!”

We’ll be sure to remember that advice!
