SNF scolded for rescue

A Syracuse, NY, nursing facility was called out by state surveyors after five nurses failed to consult a resident's chart, which contained a do-not-resuscitate order, and saved her life by using CPR and other measures.

The nurses said they had not been trained in DNR procedures, a condition managers at the former James Square Health and Rehabilitation Centre vowed in January to rectify. The facility was sold in December and renamed Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

The resident returned to the facility unharmed.
