Vitall Inc. has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its fall-detection technology that it says can significantly reduce false alarms.

The technology sends real-time alerts to caregivers with voice. It uses algorithms through its Vitall wireless biometric device worn on the wrist. The “watch” can connect caregivers, family members and residents with a platform using wearable sensors and reporting.

“This is a substantial step forward in addressing a serious issue for patients as well as elderly residents who live at home and in assisted living facilities,” said Jack Zhang, president and CEO.
