VSee telemedicine and First Derm Artificial Intelligence have teamed up to speed dermatology-related diagnoses.

The new effort integrates First Derm’s AI capabilities with VSee’s telemedicine and video expertise.

“We believe these tools will make a true impact in delivering more efficient and more effective dermatology care,” said VSee CEO Milton Chen, Ph.D.

The product advances past “forward-and-store” teledermatology approaches, in which primary care doctors would forward saved skin images and patient details to a dermatology office for diagnosis. The U.S. is experiencing a dermatologist shortage with an average wait time of 35 days.

Video telemedicine, however, provides live video visits allowing providers and patients to satisfy certain legal requirements as well as to help build rapport. The new VSee/First Derm toolkit also includes USB dermatoscopes for laptops or mobile devices to livestream the skin area of concern while simultaneously seeing patient’s faces without the need to toggle between windows.
