The Weitz Company and Shell Point Retirement Community have broken ground on the Waterside Health Center, a skilled nursing facility in Ft. Myers, FL.

The nearly 200,000-square-foot building will be located at the main entrance of Shell Point, which at   700 acres is Florida’s largest continuing care retirement community. The SNF will include 180 beds with private rooms across six levels.

Scheduled for completion in fall 2021, the building will include a rehabilitation center with therapy pool, health clinic, pharmacy, dental suite, nurse stations, dining and living rooms, sunrooms, a salon and day spa, a butterfly garden, a chapel and prayer garden, a boardwalk and a bistro. Weitz will serve as the project’s construction manager. RDG Planning & Design is the architect. This will be the 37th senior living project the two firms have designed and constructed together since 1972, including three other skilled nursing facilities in Florida: Glenridge on Palmer Ranch in Sarasota, The Woodlands at John Knox Village in Pompano Beach, and Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
