Sentara Life Care, the senior services division of Sentara Healthcare, will replace the skilled nursing facility and assisted living village on its 11-acre campus. The Sentara Healthcare board of directors approved $16.9 million for capital funding.
The new skilled nursing facility will be more than one-third larger than the current one — offering more space, greater privacy and added amenities. New additions include shared baths with showers, a large kitchen, a dedicated rehabilitation wing with a gymnasium, and a memory unit for residents with dementia.
Once the new skilled nursing facility is completed in early 2016, the rebuilding of the assisted living village will begin. The draft site plan also includes the potential for a federally supported Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly facility. The PACE facility would provide day services and comprehensive healthcare to residents who choose to live in the community but quality for a nursing home. Sentara currently operates two PACE facilities in Virginia.
Sentara Healthcare operates more than 100 sites of care throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Sentara offers nursing, assisted living, outpatient, physical therapy, rehabilitation, home health and hospice services.
