Portable device eliminates finger sticks

Masimo‘s Pronto, showcased at the recent National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in  Long-Term Care conference, is a portable, handheld Pulse CO-Oximeter that offers noninvasive and quick spot-check testing of total hemoglobin (SpHb), SpO2, pulse rate and perfusion index. The patient wears a noninvasive finger sensor. Pronto helps to facilitate immediate results and timely patient assessments for clinicians. The unit is battery-operated and can operate continuously for up to eight hours without recharging. This allows for 140 spot checks, the company said. It weighs 13 ounces. A protective boot for the device also is available.
