Medical device maker Owen Mumford has introduced Unifine SafeControl, a safety pen needle designed to provide protection from accidental needle sticks and ensure dosing accuracy.
The product features a push tab to provide one-handed control of the safety mechanism after injection when the healthcare professional is ready to activate. Unifine SafeControl offers visual and audible confirmation as well as dual protection.
A study in the Journal of Hospital Infection revealed injection pen use correlates with a higher rate of needlesticks among healthcare professionals who give injections. Hidden needles and premature activation are common concerns.
