Up to 40% of parents learned how to use the computer and Internet from their children, a new study finds.

This influence was most likely to occur with mothers and lower socioeconomic families, according to a paper published in the Journal of Communication. The results means schools in lower-income areas should be target areas for government intervention programs promoting digital media.

How long-term care providers are using, and can learn, technology is one of the topics covered in the McKnight’s Online Expo technology session. University of Missouri’s Gregory Alexander, PhD, MHA, RN, FAAN, will share his research, which focuses on nursing homes and technology. The hour-long session will begin 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 26. RF Technologies is sponsoring the session.

Participants can earn one CE credit for this session, and for each of four other educational sessions being conducted during the free March 26-27 event.
