Kare, a digital labor marketplace for the post-acute and senior care industries, is launching in Atlanta and expanding to include resources for hospitality workers who’ve lost jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launched in October 2019, the KARE app allows nursing homes and senior care communities to quickly fill open caregiving and nursing shifts, reducing reliance on overtime and agency staffing. It also allows care professionals the opportunity to make extra income in their own free time.

Through partnerships with economically impacted hospitality companies, KARE is offering hospitality workers the opportunity to pick up similar opportunities in senior care communities. KARE has opened its app to furloughed cooks, building maintenance workers, waitstaff, receptionists and housekeepers.

“While the coronavirus has devastated the hospitality industry, the need for these positions has never been stronger for our caring communities,” said Charles Turner, CEO of KARE. “As we have the perfect technology to put these folks back to work, we rapidly accelerated our development to help both workers and our caring communities.”

In addition to hospitality roles, KARE will also be expanding its app to the Atlanta market. KARE has already grown rapidly in nine different Texas markets, but this is its first launch in a market outside of Texas.

“First and foremost, KARE is an industry-driven initiative, as several leading companies, industry leaders and real estate funds have invested in KARE to ensure its growth,” said Bridget Kaselak, chief growth officer. “Our customers and partners have been strongly encouraging us to expand to Atlanta as our next major market, and in many cases, this represents a logical extension of our current customer relationships.”

The expansion to hospitality was supported by Golden Section Technology as part of a $1 million software services grant program aiding companies affected by the COVID-19 market crisis.

The grant helped Kare rapidly onboard a new team of senior developers to add the features and functionality necessary to open the platform up to hospitality workers.
