The ability to analyze clinical and cost data will require more granular clinical documentation to meet ICD-10 requirements, according to a new white paper from Genpact Limited.

The paper, “ICD-10: The call for operational effectiveness,” was written to help healthcare providers make the transition, which “represents the most significant coding upgrade in 30 years,” according to author Damandeep Kochhar, Genpact’s senior vice president and business leader, healthcare.


Companies must potentially re-engineer billing and claims systems and have better documentation support to keep up, he said.
