A free, virtual concert series backed by senior care tech companies Cliniconex and CareWorx Fully Managed debuts Thursday on YouTube Live.

More than 80 communities had already signed up for Moments for Care, an initiative that aims to share joy with residents, care teams and support staff. The idea is to provide engagement and fun through music, comedy or other live entertainment.

The first 45-minute concert features Candian singer-songwriter Kimberly Sunstrum and David Kalil, known as Ottawa’s “Piano Man.” It streams live for registered participants starting at 2 p.m. EST, but facilities don’t have to share it live. Anyone who registers will receive an emailed recording too.

Ottawa-based CareWorx said it had hired local artists for the initiative and asked them to emphasize cover songs and other pieces that will resonate with seniors who tune in. They took song requests in advance from facilities that signed up early.
