The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted commercial clearance for DermaTherapy® Bed Linens by Standard Textile. The bedding medical device is designed to prevent pressure ulcers.

DermaTherapy® bedding technology was developed in partnership between Standard Textile Co. Inc. and Precision Fabrics Group. In one trial, a public university medical center invested $77,000 in DermaTherapy in two intensive care units. It saved $1.5 million by reducing the number of pressure ulcers, investigators said.

DermaTherapy has two U.S. patents and two pending patents. The system involves a  pillowcase, top flat sheet, bottom fitted sheet and underpad.
