The Kendal Corporation has begun a $40 million renovation and expansion at its Lexington, VA, community.

Kendal at Lexington includes the Borden Health Center, which executives said would be the most up-to-date skilled nursing care facility in the region. Around 80% of Borden admissions come from the general community, 40% of those are supported by Medicaid.

“We are proud of our long legacy of partnering with, and caring for, both our full-time community residents and our Lexington area neighbors,” Board Chairman Bob Glidden said. “After the renovations, the residents and staff living and working in the skilled care and assisted living centers will enjoy bright, home-like settings with modern amenities and comforts and, our facilities are open to everyone.”

In addition to updates planned for assisted living and the dining room, the third part of the expansion will include new independent living cottages, increasing the residential living options by 25%.
