The federal government plans to continue analyzing implementation of the Medicare Part D drug benefit in nursing homes in fiscal year 2007. That’s according to an enforcement agency’s work plan released this week.
As part of its review, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General will examine how dual eligible residents of long-term care facilities are selecting and enrolling in plans and how they are receiving their drugs. A report on it is expected in 2008.
The OIG also will conduct evaluations, inspections, and audits of hospitals and home health agencies that bill Medicare. Further, it will continue reviews of Part B drug pricing and evaluate changes and trends in Part D drug prices.
