A resident of a Kentucky nursing home was charged with murder last Thursday after authorities say he attacked and killed a fellow resident with a pen and an electrical cord.

The 35-year-old suspect was formerly known as Robert Reynolds before legally changing his name to The Reverend. He was arrested after he allegedly told an employee of the facility that he killed 71-year-old resident Gary Glueck. Both men were residents of Scottsville Manor in Scottsville, KY.

Authorities say the two men had a verbal altercation, which led to The Reverend stabbing Glueck with a pen and wrapping a lamp cord around his neck. The state medical examiner determined Glueck’s cause of death to be asphyxia via strangulation.

Scottsville Administrator Lesa Keen told the Bowling Green Daily News the facility brought in additional workers on Friday to take care of the 40-bed facility’s other residents.

“Their safety is No. 1 right now,” Keen said. “This is their home.”
