Workforce struggles are still affecting the long-term care industry after the latest jobs report revealed nursing care facilities lost 700 jobs during the month of February.

This information reported in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ most recent preliminary employment report comes after the sector added 2,400 jobs during the month of January, despite an ongoing healthcare worker shortage. 

Nursing home administrators previously revealed that finding and keeping qualified employees are among their top concerns. A 2019 study also found that the United States will likely see a doctor shortage from 46,900 to 121,900 physicians by 2032. 

Overall, the healthcare sector added 31,600 jobs during the month. 

Community care facilities for the elderly added 600 jobs, while the home health industry added 9,700 jobs. Hospitals also saw gains with 7,800 jobs added.
